Scenic Fort Worth champions the protection and enhancement of Fort Worth’s scenic character.

We are committed to protecting trees, parks and streetscapes while advocating against visual pollution created by billboards, excessive signage and insensitive lighting.

  • Mission

Scenic Fort Worth protects and enhances the city’s visual environments, ensuring sustainability and a strong economic base.

Beautiful neighborhoods, attractive commercial areas, parks and green spaces throughout the city are critically important for everyone who lives, works and visits our city.

We believe in collaborative leadership by working with local nonprofits, residents and city officials to influence public policy and foster education about urban design, scenic preservation and sustainability.

Scenic Fort Worth monitors ordinance enforcement, works to strengthen policies and studies the impact of annual city budgets. We have facilitated community-wide conferences on significant public policy issues.

    We stay involved.

  • Actions

Our leadership develops alliances that build a strong community voice for quality of life issues and programs. Through monitoring ordinance enforcement, design standards and land use, we help strengthen policies. In concert with community partners, city staff and elected officials, our achievements include:

Banning new billboards and prohibiting digital billboard conversions

Limiting signs to monument style signs and regulating temporary signage

Influencing highway design for better aesthetics and safety

Requiring cell towers to adopt “stealth design” when along scenic roadways

Mandating landscaping and tree planting for new and expanded developments

Increasing urban green spaces and public parks

Protecting our urban forest through updated policies

Supporting policies that preserve authenticity, sustainability and livability throughout the city.
