Meet Margaret DeMoss: A Legacy of Leadership in Fort Worth

A longtime advocate for Fort Worth's beauty, preservation, and community.

Margaret DeMoss has spent decades serving the Fort Worth community through civic leadership, public service, and environmental advocacy. As Vice President and a co-founder of Scenic Fort Worth, she has been a dedicated advocate for preserving the city's natural beauty and distinctive character.

Margaret's professional background includes science education, public health, and business ownership. Beyond her career, she has been actively involved in shaping Fort Worth through numerous boards, commissions, and community organizations.

She previously served as Chair of the Fort Worth Zoning Commission and has held positions with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, Fort Worth ISD Council of PTAs, Women's Policy Forum of Tarrant County, and the Scientific Advisory Committee on Birth Defects in Texas. She has also served on the Scenic Texas Board of Directors and is involved with the Fort Worth Cultural District Alliance.

As an engaged Fort Worth resident, Margaret has founded and chaired neighborhood associations, participated in discussions surrounding local development, and advocated for landscaping, urban forestry, and responsible signage policies. Her dedication to scenic preservation earned her Scenic America's Stafford Award for Advocacy in 1997.

Through her continued involvement with Scenic Fort Worth and other community organizations, Margaret remains committed to protecting the qualities that make Fort Worth a special place to live, work, and visit.
